A New Chapter at Morgado do Quintão

As Morgado do Quintão celebrates ten years of recovery and regeneration, a new chapter begins with Mariana Salvador joining the estate as lead winemaker.

One of the most exciting voices of a new generation of Portuguese wine, Mariana brings international experience from Australia, New Zealand and Chile, alongside work with projects such as Herdade da Comporta and Textura Wines. Her approach combines precision, restraint and deep respect for terroir.

Her arrival feels less like reinvention and more like a natural continuation of the path the estate has been building over the last decade: organic farming, indigenous Algarve varieties and wines that express place with honesty.

“The Algarve has enormous potential still waiting to be revealed,” says Mariana. “What motivates me most is the opportunity to help deepen that expression — with rigour, sensitivity and time.”

From the 2024 harvest onwards, all Morgado do Quintão wines are officially certified organic, including the estate’s 23 hectares of vineyard — today the largest certified organic vineyard area in the Algarve.

This new phase also honours the important contribution of Joana Maçanita, whose work helped shape the identity of Morgado do Quintão and reinforce the contemporary relevance of Algarve wines.

The ambition remains unchanged: to listen closely to the land and allow the Algarve to speak through wine.
